AI-Powered Drone Doorstep Deliveries Begin In Gurugram

Skye Air Mobility, a cutting-edge drone delivery company based in Gurugram, has started making real doorstep deliveries by combining drones and AI-powered robots. This is a big step forward for India’s hyperlocal logistics industry. The India AI Impact Summit announced this new milestone, which is a big step toward fully autonomous, eco-friendly last-mile delivery systems in cities.

Skye Air, which was started by Ankit Kumar and is now its CEO, has combined its existing drone infrastructure, called Skye Port, with advanced AI-driven systems on the ground. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the company has already made almost 3.6 million drone deliveries in the last 2.5 years, which has saved over a thousand tonnes of carbon emissions.

This new improvement builds on what Skye Air already does well, with drones able to carry up to 10 kg of cargo. These drones are great for delivering all kinds of things, like groceries, medicines, and retail items. The new end-to-end autonomous system cuts down on the need for people to get involved, which makes deliveries faster and more efficient.

One of the most important parts of this project is the international partnerships that have been made. Skye Air has worked with Arrive AI, a tech company based in the US, to set up “Arrive Points,” which are smart mailbox systems in homes and businesses. These secure units will get packages delivered by drones. After that, AI-powered robots called Ottobots or rovers will finish the delivery by taking the package from the mailbox to the customer’s door.

The process works perfectly: drones carry packages from distribution centers to Arrive Points, where AI robots finish the delivery. An app sends real-time notifications to recipients, letting them know what’s going on with the delivery. Skye Air’s AI-powered Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) system controls the whole operation, making sure that it is safe and accurate in busy cities.

This new phase of hyperlocal logistics is likely to have a big effect on the delivery business. Skye Air is helping to grow the automated delivery ecosystem by combining aerial drones with ground-based robots. This fits with India’s goal of becoming a global center for AI and innovation.

Skye Air wants to grow its business beyond Gurugram and Bengaluru, where it already does business. The company’s goal is to change industries like quick-commerce, e-commerce fulfilment, and medical supply chains. It is clear that switching from traditional vehicle-based deliveries to autonomous, aerial, and robotic systems is better for the environment because it has already saved over 1,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

This is an important step forward in the development of logistics in India, and it will help build a smarter, more sustainable delivery system.
