BHEL Bhopal Declared No-Drone Zone for Two Months to Prevent Aerial Threats
Citing security concerns, Bhopal authorities have temporarily banned drone operations near Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Section 163(2) of the Indian Civil Defence Code 2023 was used to issue the order, which declares the industrial zone a “no drone zone” for the ensuing two months.
Due to the restriction, anyone or any organization wishing to fly a drone within the designated area must first get the police’s express consent. The decision was made as a preventative step to protect BHEL, which is essential to the production of infrastructure and vital equipment.
Due to its status as a key industrial center, BHEL may be the target of improper use of unmanned aerial vehicles or aerial surveillance. The police hope to remove any aerial threats and protect the facility and its surroundings by outlawing unapproved drone flights.
The directive highlights the rising worries about drone abuse in India. Drones are frequently used for commercial, recreational, and photographic purposes, but they also pose security risks when flown close to sensitive areas like government buildings, military installations, or industrial complexes.
The two-month period enables law enforcement to keep a close eye on the situation and determine whether an extension is necessary. Authorities have cautioned that severe legal action may result from any breach of the no-drone directive.
In order to avoid penalties, locals and drone enthusiasts have been advised to exercise caution, confirm that the area they intend to fly in is within restricted airspace, and obtain the required clearances.
