UP Government Offers Subsidies on Agricultural Drones and Machinery

The Uttar Pradesh government is providing subsidies for the purchase of agricultural drones and machinery in an effort to lessen the financial burden on farmers who invest in cutting-edge agricultural equipment. Until July 12, farmers can apply for these benefits online at www.agridarshan.up.gov.in.
The subsidies are being offered under a number of important State Agriculture Department programs, such as the Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue, the Mission on Agricultural Mechanization, and other associated initiatives. These programs seek to encourage the use of agricultural drones and protective farming tools, as well as the adoption of high-tech equipment, particularly for custom hiring and the creation of farm machinery banks.
The subsidy covers a variety of equipment, such as:
- Agricultural drones
- Combine harvesters with Super Straw Management System (SMS)
- Pneumatic planters
- Maize shellers
- Popping machines
- Batch dryers
- Threshing floors
- Oil extraction units
- Sugarcane settling planters, among others.
The goal of the program is to boost sustainable farming methods throughout the state, promote the use of contemporary technology, and increase farm productivity. Before the application deadline, officials have encouraged qualified farmers and agribusiness owners to take advantage of the program.
Agriculture industry experts have underlined that implementing mechanized solutions greatly increases farming operations’ productivity and efficiency while also saving time and labor. For example, agricultural drones can be used for crop monitoring, precise fertilizer and pesticide application, and real-time crop health evaluations, which over time can improve yield management and reduce costs.
The state government is also supporting training and capacity-building initiatives in partnership with agricultural universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and private sector partners to guarantee that farmers can operate these machines efficiently. The goal of these programs is to acquaint farmers with the proper use, upkeep, and operation of sophisticated farming equipment. It is recommended that farmers who are interested in subsidies first finish any applicable training modules.
Furthermore, the government has made a concerted effort to support farm machinery banks and custom hiring centers (CHCs) in rural areas. Small and marginal farmers who might not be able to purchase pricey machinery on their own can rent it from these centers for reasonable prices. In addition to lowering idle capital investment and promoting community-based agricultural development, this shared-use model guarantees wider access to contemporary tools.
