Hyderabad Police to Launch Massive Drone Surveillance Fleet

As part of a larger push for technology-driven law enforcement in the city, the Hyderabad police are going to use drones a lot more in their daily work.

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar said at the annual review meeting on Saturday that the police will add to the current drone fleet in the IT wing and use drones more often for field-level surveillance. More use of drone policing is likely to improve crime prevention, monitoring, and quick response throughout the city.

The police department wants to use more modern technologies, along with drones, to make their work more efficient and help control crime. This includes using body-worn cameras more often, connecting CCTV networks across jurisdictions, and managing criminal cases digitally to make investigations and evidence handling easier.

The department is also getting ready to use AI-based tools for policing in the next year. These projects will focus on predicting crime, mapping crime hotspots, recognizing faces, and using data to decide where to send police officers. This will allow police to move from responding to crimes to preventing them.

At the same time, the police in Hyderabad are getting better at being ready for emergencies like floods, fires, public health crises, and big public events. Regular mock drills, better coordination between agencies, and the use of specialized rapid response units will all help with this.

Another important area of focus is traffic management. Plans include smart traffic systems, AI-powered signal management, and e-challans for enforcement. These steps will be added to city planning efforts to reduce traffic, make roads safer, and make it easier for people to get around the city.
