Punjab Government Deploys Advanced Anti-Drone Defense System Along Pakistan Border

2 May, 2025- To strengthen national security, the Punjab government has announced deploying a high-grade anti-drone defense system along the international border adjoining Pakistan. This initiative is a direct response to the increasing use of drones by hostile elements for smuggling weapons, narcotics, and other contraband into Indian territory.
A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the newly inducted system will significantly enhance border surveillance and enable immediate detection and neutralization of unauthorized aerial vehicles. Law enforcement and security forces will now be equipped with the tools necessary to intercept and eliminate drones attempting to breach Indian airspace from across the border.
This strategic deployment marks a critical step forward in countering trans-border criminal operations, particularly those involving drone-based infiltration and payload drops. The anti-drone mechanism will also facilitate real-time tracking, ensuring swift operational responses and minimizing the risk of cross-border security threats.

Ceasefire Violations Escalate Along LoC Following Pahalgam Attack
Simultaneously, the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) remains tense in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Over the past week, multiple ceasefire violations have been reported, indicating a pattern of deliberate escalation by Pakistani forces.
During the intervening night of April 29 and 30, Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked small-arms fire from their positions opposite the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors in Jammu. The Indian Army responded with immediate and proportionate retaliatory fire to contain the aggression.
Subsequent reports confirmed that the hostilities extended further north, with additional firing incidents recorded in the Baramulla and Kupwara districts of Kashmir. Hostile activity was also observed across the International Border in the Pargwal sector. Indian forces have maintained operational readiness and responded firmly to each provocation.
This marks the sixth consecutive day of ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces since the initial breach on the night of April 25–26. Indian defense officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace while asserting that any act of aggression will be met with a strong and measured response.
