500 Youth to Receive DGCA-Certified Drone Training in Karnataka: Minister

Karnataka has started a significant project to incorporate drone technology into skill development and law enforcement. Through a certification program overseen by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), almost 500 young people in Kalaburagi district are receiving training in drone operations. This initiative is a part of a larger initiative to get rural communities ready for jobs driven by technology in the future.

The Kalaburagi district’s commissioner of police received the cutting-edge surveillance drones, Nimble-i and NS01, at a formal ceremony in Bengaluru. These drones, which were created and produced in Karnataka, have advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities designed to improve operational preparedness and district-level surveillance.

Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) frameworks, the initiative is being carried out with the assistance of private sector organizations. In order to ensure a more responsive, effective, and technologically advanced policing system, the goal is to increase access to drone technology in all Karnataka police stations.

The newly released surveillance drones have sophisticated features like automatic number plate recognition, crowd detection, vehicle tracking, real-time day and night monitoring, and quick deployment. It is anticipated that these features will greatly increase the effectiveness of law enforcement, especially in the areas of criminal tracking, emergency response, and crowd control.

In Kalaburagi, a youth training program certified by the DGCA is being implemented with the aim of creating jobs, encouraging local innovation, and developing a rural tech ecosystem. New livelihood opportunities are being created by teaching young people how to operate UAVs, especially in fields like public safety, logistics, agriculture, and surveying.

Karnataka is now a leader in fusing technology and grassroots governance thanks to the integration of AI-powered drones into the police force and the concurrent training of young people. A strategic model for inclusive technological growth is reflected in the dual approach of improving public safety and creating jobs.

It is anticipated that the drone project will expand to other districts with sustained assistance from state agencies and private partners, establishing a standard for intelligent governance and technologically enabled rural development in India.
