Drones and Patrol Vehicles Distributed to Strengthen Tech-Driven Traffic Policing in Vijayawada

drones and patrol vehicles distributed to strengthen tech driven traffic policing in vijayawada

In a significant move to improve technology-enabled traffic enforcement, Andhra Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP), Harish Kumar Gupta, on Thursday gave drones, patrol cars, and state-of-the-art traffic equipment to the Vijayawada city traffic police.

The purpose of the distribution event was to promote initiatives to lessen traffic, enhance public safety, and aid in the efficient application of traffic safety regulations throughout the city. The city police of Vijayawada received praise for their efforts to maintain public order, enforce helmet laws, and ease traffic congestion.

720 police caps, 350 baton lights, and 14 drone cameras were formally turned over to the traffic department as part of the project. It is anticipated that these tools will improve real-time surveillance, facilitate improved traffic control, and aid in crowd control during busy times and significant public gatherings.

40 recently assigned traffic patrol cars were flagged off and formally added to the department’s operational fleet after the handover. The DGP personally flew one of the drones to assess its operational capabilities and readiness.

Improved policing results in the NTR district were attributed in large part to advanced technology, including AI-based systems like the AsTram platform, which was recently implemented during Visakhapatnam’s International Yoga Day celebrations. The district’s status as a model for contemporary policing techniques has been attributed to the effective integration of these systems.

It was mentioned that one of the most physically taxing jobs is still traffic duty, where employees frequently have to work in harsh weather and environmental conditions. Their dedication and service have been acknowledged as being essential to the efficient operation of city traffic.

In order to facilitate surveillance and emergency response efforts, every police station in the district now has at least one drone. Donor contributions for drones, CCTV cameras, and other necessary equipment were also recognized as being crucial to the department’s expanding technological infrastructure.

The Andhra Pradesh Police Department is anticipated to increase its emphasis on technology-based governance and operational efficiency with this initiative. There are plans to implement the NTR district’s effective tactics throughout the entire state.
